Post subject:  UTF-8 encoding

Hi there,

I have one "bug" to report and one feature to ask for.

1. "bug"
When I convert a file to UTF-8 encoding, and access it, the first character it prints, is the BOM signature. Look at the sign, at line 1, before the warning.

Please remove BOM signature, from the UTF-8 files

2. nice to have feature
Codelobster should recognise at least UTF-8 encoded files, and switch to the correct encoding. Now, every time I open a file, I have to manually change encoding. UltraEdit has implemeneted this feature.

Thanks for listening
Alexandros

Hi.

1) We already know about the problem with BOM.
We will fix it in the new version.

2) Encoding autodetect is not easy task :(
There is no universal algorithm for detecting all codings.
It can be implemented only for some of it.
We think we will do it anyway but a little later.

Regards,
Codelobster Team.

1. Great !!

2. I would suggest to implement it for UTF-8 files, since this encoding is used around the world for all the languages...
You will hit 200 birds with one stone.

When should we expect the new version ?

Thanks

OK
I 'll have to switch back to Ultraedit, because the BOM signature ruins all my pages and I am tired of switching encoding...

I am really looking forward to testing the new version.

Thanks for the great job !!
