Hello!

First of all, I really like Code Lobster, and I find it better then dreamweaver!

Anyways, I was wondering if you ever tried installing Code Lobster on a USB drive.

My questions are:
1) Does it work on the same computer as you installed it?
2) If yes, does it work on any computer (that you haven't installed it on)?

Hi.

Codelobster use several records in the system registry.
So it is not fully-portable.
Yes - it will work from your USB drive on another PC, but it will create and use the registry in any case.

Regards,
Codelobster Team.

Basically every-time you use it on another machine, the Registration needs to be re-entered and none of your settings will be available --- as they are saved in the registry instead of in .ini files.

I really don't see what the point of choosing [x] portable or [x] standard is in the installer. :P

I've also found it may or may not run from the Flash drive, as I'll usually get immediate crashes
Unhandled Exception pSAXReader whenever I attempt to run it from the flash drive on a PC that it hasn't already been installed on.

So, no it's not portable. and unless I backup the registry keys at home, and import them into every machine I might use elsewhere I don't have any of my settings either.

Hi.

When you turn on "Portable" option while installation or in the Preferences all settings will be saved to special file in the Portable folder (not in the Registry) including Registration data.
We will re-test the problem on clear PC, may be we should add several additional verifications.

Regards,
Codelobster Team.

Well I installed CLPHP (portable) 4 times in the last 3 days. When I had to do it twice today I purged the registry of all keys/strings that matched CodeLobster. When I ran CLPHP from the USB drive I had to re-register --- then I scanned the registry again: all the keys I had purged were regenerated after it was run.

I checked my USB "Portable" install of CLPHP after seeing mention of the Preferences setting above.

It appears that checking [x] portable during install doesn't actually apply the portable settings...

I launched the Flash Drive CLPHP, and changed the settings:
Quote:
IDE | Portable
[▪] Portable
[ ] Save to Registry Anyways

And it seems to be working from non-registry settings now.
I haven't purged my own Registry so not 100%, but on startup it is loading files that the portable install had open -- whereas the Regular install on the HD opens up with no initial files.

Just a minor followup, This doesn't occur under WinXP.
CLPHP runs without error under WinXP (from USB Drive) : Without needing to be installed once onto the harddrive.

Still occurs under Vista Business 32bit, though I had thought it had ceased.
As above, crash when attempt to run on a machine it hadn't been installed on - even when the settings have been configured (for portable) previously.

I am having a similar problem on other machines while trying to run CodelobsterPHP on a portable drive. I am getting the psaxreader error despite changing the settings in the actual program to portable.

Picking portable during the installation seems to do nothing and still makes you re-register on every computer.

After picking portable in options it saves the registration information to the flash drive but still gets a psaxreader error on computers in which it is not natively installed.

Hopefully this gets resolved because I am loving Codelobster. I have been using it instead of Dreamweaver the past few weeks.

I think it would be a good idea to make a separate installer for the portable version... in the same vein as portableapps.com. Their forums there are very helpful and you may find out a better way to make Codelobster truly portable.

Thanks!

Hi.

Please, wait for release of version 3.6.3 soon.
We will install MSXML parser into Codelobster's folder.
It will resolve the problem.

Regards,
Codelobster Team.

Has this been fixed in the newest released as planned? I re-installed the new version to my portable drive but was getting the same psaxreader error.

Many Thanks!

Hi.

Could you, please, manually copy msxml4.dll into windows/system32 folder and register it after that by the follwoing command:
Regsvr32.exe msxml4.dll

Thanks.
Codelobster Team.

So this would need to be done on every computer I wish to run it on? If so then there is no way to run this truly "portable" :( . A few of the computers I use have no admin access.

Thanks for the tip though.

Hi.

Does Codelobster work OK after this registration?

We will do more research for accured problem.
But looks like you will need to have adminisrator rights in any case :(

Regards,
Codelobster Team.
