Hi,
(my apologies for any mistake in english, I am brazilian)

I am facing something strange, after a long time using Codelobster I noticed something like "corrupted" file.

I was using version 5.11.4, and have some files saved with UTF-8 encoding, and today I update to version 5.13 and opened the same files.

For my surprise, the accented characters appeared diferent, like the encoding was wrong.

I checked the option: TOOLS -> PREFERENCES -> IDE -> GENERAL -> Default encoding
and it was showing UTF-8, as I did after installation.

I oppened the same file in MS-Notepad, and it show me the correct caracters, and clicking on "save as" it show me the UTF-8 encoding.

The original file is attached in this post: "index.php.txt", it is an ordinary PHP file.

The file "utf8.jpg" atached in this post show the differences.

Even after unintalling 5.13, and reinstalling version 5.11.4, the accented characters was "corrupted".

This issue happened in some files, not all. Old files made in 5.11.4 was showed with correct characters, and I will keep using version 5.11.4 for now.

What is happening with Codelobster 5.13 ?

Hi, rmagalhaess.

You didn't open your file in UTF-8 (look at bottom right corner).
Please, press "Open File" and select UTF-8 encoding in the appeared dialog (in the bottom listbox).

Regards,
Codelobster Team.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply,

The problem is not "how to open a file", but "how Codelobster recognize a file".

When I opened the file in MS-Notepad, the file was opened with UTF-8 encoding,
but when the same file was opened in Codelobster, it was "recognized" as an ANSI file,
and the accented characters became "corrupted" characters.

After reading about UTF-8 encoding, whith BOM and without BOM, I did one thing:
I opened each file in MS-Notepad, saved it with a new name (to have a new file),
and this new file was recognized by Codelobster as UTF-8 encoding.

I think that the file's header became "strange" to Codelobster for some reason,
and after saving it with MS-Notepad the new file has a "good" header.

Hi.

Most probably You opened this file in ANSI encoding first time
and Codelobster remember this choice.

So You should re-open this file from menu and select UTF-8 in the appeared dialog.

Regards,
Codelobster Team.
